GHA Environmental were instructed to provide a watching brief during engineering works to the banks of the River Wye.

The river is heavily infested with both Japanese knotweed and himalayan balsam. The clients, Britannia Construction, were concerned about the possible spread of the plants to neighbouring private property. GHA developed a Knotweed Management Plan, incorporating robust biosecurity measures, herbicide treatments, manual de-vegetation, safe stockpiling, disposal and monitoring.

The works progressed smoothly, ensuring that our clients adhered to the requirements of both the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Environmental Protection Act.
