GHA Environmental were instructed to provide a watching brief during engineering works to the banks of the River Wye.
The river is heavily infested with both Japanese knotweed and himalayan balsam. The clients, Britannia Construction, were c
oncerned about the possible spread of the plants to neighbouring private property. GHA developed a Knotweed Management Plan, incorporating robust biosecurity measures, herbicide treatments, manual de-vegetation, safe stockpiling, disposal and monitoring.
The works progressed smoothly, ensuring that our clients adhered to the requirements of both the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Environmental Protection Act.
